I must admit, I am a cheerful and almost always happy person, some even say I am too happy and get annoyed by it. However, there is no better feeling, in my opinion, than being happy. Sadly, I have found out that others think that the only reason of me being happy and positive is because I get good grades and my life is going well. I can assure you, that my life itself has little to do with my happiness.
What I teach and show others, based on myself as an example is that happiness is something that comes from purely within. It is a decision you make regardless of the life you lead. You may have absolutely no friends, no job and an awful relationship with your
parents but still choose to be happy.
Now, a couple of years back my life wasn’t all too great. I was bullied, in a school I didn’t like and I didn’t like myself for who I was. So I was rather unhappy. After a while, though, I needed a change, and I made the conscious decision to start loving myself and to start being happy with what I had back then. I started affirming and working on myself.
It is ONLY THEN that my life started shifting. I accepted myself, I lost some weight, I switched school and gained amazing friends. The bullying stopped. Since I was already happy anyway, this fulfilled me and made me not only happy, but excited and I saw a life worth living. Since then I have been growing every day, if am learning more and I simply enjoy to live every single day. I now live in peace love and joy – and what got me here? – the conscious decision to be happy anyway, even though life was though.
A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes. ~Hugh Downs
Have a happy day and keep smiling :)
